Massif Holidays has designed the itinerary of 25 days trek including few more days sightseeing in the major places known as Snowman  Trekking. This is the  most challenging trek in Bhutan.  The trek combines with many high passes over 4500 Meters and accesses Lunana, the most remote region of Bhutan.  This trek is only done by a handful of trekkers. The trek also combines  buddhist monasteries and secluded villages that are isolated from the rest of Bhutan for many months of the year. This trip combines the trekking in the beautiful high altitude lakes, different floras, mountain ridge with beautiful Himalayas views, high passes, remote and isolated village. Day 29:Departure at Paro International Airport. We will transfer to Paro International Airport for you onward destination.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrive Paro 2280 meters. Overnight at Hotel.Our airport representative will receive you from Paro International Airport. You will drive to the Hotel. After lunch, you will visit the places like the Drukgyal Dzong and Kichu Lhakhang, built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo. Our guide will brief you in details about the places. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 02 Sightseeing in Paro. Overnight at Hotel. The wonderful sightseeing in Paro includes the places like the spectacular Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery , Satsam Chorten, Ta Dzong (built in1656 and renovated in 1968), an ancient watchtower, which now houses the Nationa Museum and Paro Rimpung. Our guide will brief about the cultural and historical aspects the places during the tour. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.

Day 03 Trek to Sharna (2800 Meters) about 6 hours. Overnight at Camp.We start trek at Drukgyel Dzong. We set up the camp at Sharna crossing the farm houses and small settlement. The camp is situated at 2800 Meters above the sea level. We will walk about 6 hours and cross the distance of 17 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 04Trek to Thangkthanka (3520 Meters) about 8 hours. Overnight at Camp.The trek starts with upriver and continue crossing rhododendron and blue pine forest. We will see some wild animals at Jigme Dorji National Park and continue to trek. We walk about 8 hours and cross the distance of 22 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 05Trek to Jangothang (4040 Meters) about 6 hours. Overnight at Camp.We continue trek after breakfast to Jangothang crossing Tengethang, winder home for yak herders. The camp is situated at 4040 Meters above the sea level. We will walk about 6 hours and cross the distance of 19 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 06 Rest day at Jangothang. Overnight at Camp.Today is the rest day for acclimatization. You have option for hiking and fishing for today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 07 Cross Nyile La Pass to Lingshi (4150 Meters ) about 7 hours. Overnight at Camp.Today is the day of crossing the first pass among the major passes in this trek. We cross the Nyile La Pass at 4890 Meters. We continue to trek four hours after the pass. We camp at the altitude of 4150 M. We will walk about 7 hours and cross the distance of 20 KM today.Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 08Trek to Chebisa (3850 Meters ) about 5 hours. Overnight at Camp.Our trek continues after visiting 17th century Lingshi Dzong in the morning. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 3850 M. We will walk about 5 hours and cross the distance of 14 today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 09 Cross Gombu La Pass to Shakshepasa (3980 Meters ) about 4 hours. Overnight at Camp.Our trek continues after crossing the Gombu La Pass at the altitude of 4350 Meters. Continue descent into the beautiful valley and passing the yak herders takes us to the camp. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 3980 M. We will walk about 4 hours and cross the distance of 13 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 10 Cross Jhari La Pass to Robluthang (4160 Meters ) about 8 hours. Overnight at Camp.Our trek continues after crossing the Jhari La Pass at 4747 Meters. Continue descent into the beautiful valley of Tsharijathang – a popular place to see the national animal of Bhutan- Takin and climbing few hours trek takes us at the camp. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4160 M. We will walk about 8 hours and cross the distance of 18 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 11Cross Shinge La Pass to Limithang (4140 Meters) about 8 hours. Overnight at Camp.We are crossing the Shinge La Pass at 5005 Meters today. The majestic view of Mt. Gangchenta (6840M) and the glacially carved Gangchhenta valley is well known from this spot. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4140 M. We will walk about 8 hours and cross the distance of 19 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 12Trek to Laya (3840 Meters) about 5 hours. Overnight at Camp.Todays’ shorter hike is rewarding for remarkable views of Mt. Gangchenta (6840M) and Mt. Masang Gang (7165 M) crossing via heavily wooded, uninhabited valley and forest. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 3840 M. We will walk about 5 hours and cross the distance of 10 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 13Rest Day at Laya. Overnight at Camp.Staying in Laya for the day we will get a chance to see the village with its community school, hospital, archery field and the first shop since the Paro Valley. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 14Trek to Rodufu (4160 Meters) about 7 hours. Overnight at Camp.We start hiking early, as today is one of the toughest days of the trek with a lot of steep uphill. After leaving the Army Camp and crossing the river we begin our ascent towards Lunana and the most remote stages of our trek. It will take us more than three days to reach the first settlement of Lunana, Woche. The forest is luxuriant and the steep trail winds up among tall trunks and root buttresses. As we climb higher we walk among pines, oaks and rhododendron, emerging finally to a broad river valley of alpine pastures. The valley is surrounded by steep slopes and rocky crags and being at higher elevations now, our evening camps will be cooler. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4160 M. We will walk about 7 hours and cross the distance of 19 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 15Cross Tsemo La Pass to Narethang. (4900 Meters) about 8 hours. Overnight at Camp. We need to cross the river this morning and ascend the slope of dwarf rhododendron directly opposite and once this is achieved, trek on through another small valley of alpine pastures to a small pass; Tsemo La (4905m). We descend and traverse around some slopes to be rewarded with a line of snowy peaks; with Gangla Karchung (6395m) the highest. Our camp is on grassy slopes, surrounded by glaciers, moraines and a few small alpine lakes. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4900 M. We will walk about 8 hours and cross the distance of 16 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 16Cross Karchung La Pass to Narethang. (4020 Meters) about 6 hours. Overnight at Camp.Today’s magnificent hike will take us into the pristine and remote Lunana District. It takes us about one and a half hours to reach our pass at the head of the valley and then we have a very long descent of approx 1200 metres to the valley of the Tang Chuu. At the pass, the Karakachu La (5020m), the peaks of Jejekangphu Gang (7300m) and Tsenda Kang (7100m) can be seen on to our left. These dramatic peaks feed the lakes, hanging glaciers and river system before us. We drop down through lateral moraine and then forests of rhododendron to the valley floor where we walk a further 2 to 3 hours to our camp set in a clearing downstream. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4020 M. We will walk about 6 hours and cross the distance of 18 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 17Trek to Woche. (3940 Meters) about 6 hours. Overnight at Camp.The walk leads down through conifer forests, following the upper reaches of the Pho Chhu river. The trail then climbs over a ridge and drops to the village of Woche. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 3940 M. We will walk about 6 hours and cross the distance of 15 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 18Cross the Keche La Pass and trek to Lhedi. (3600 Meters) about 8 hours. Overnight at Camp.It’s a gradual climb from Woche to the Keche La pass at 4580m, then downhill to Thega village. The hike continues to Lhedi village. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 3600 M. We will walk about 8 hours and cross the distance of 19 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 19 Trek to Thanza (4080 Meters) about 7 hours. Overnight at Camp.The gradual climb following the Pho Chhu to Chozo Village takes us to the small Chozo Dzong. We continue to Thanza village. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4080 M. We will walk about 7 hours and cross the distance of 19 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 20Rest day at Thanza (4080 Meters) about 7 hours. Overnight at Camp.We have a rest day to prepare for your hike ahead. We check and make sure if everything is okay with our team. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 21Trek to Danji (6000 Meters) about 4 hours. Overnight at Camp.Today is comparatively short trek and more acclimatization for another pass. The place offer the breathtaking views of the snow capped mountains. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4600 M. We will walk about 4 hours and cross the distance of 08 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 22Cross Jaze La Pass and trek to Tso Chena (4800 Meters) about 5 hours. Overnight at Camp.The starting of the trek includes the three false summits to Jaze La Pass. We cross the remarkable pass Jaze La Pass at (4800 Meters) today. After the pass, we continue short downhill trek to Tso Chena. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4800 M. We will walk about 5 hours and cross the distance of 12 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 23Cross Loju La Pass and trek to Jichu Dramo (4880 Meters) about 5 hours. Overnight at Camp.The trail undulates between snow-capped peaks and crosses the Loju La (5145m). Winding around several ridges, more expansive views open out before us including distant views to our most major pass of the trek, the Rinchen Zoe La (5320m). Few, if any, of these peaks have been climbed, making our panorama all the more special. We camp in a little patch of grassy tundra, wedged between expansive rocks and trickling streams.Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4800 M. We will walk about 5 hours and cross the distance of 14 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 24Cross Richen Zoe La Pass and trek to Chukarpo (4950 Meters) about 6 hours. Overnight at Camp.Leaving our yak herder camp below the pass, we walk through a lunar landscape of rocks, lakes of incredible green hues, glaciers and snowy summits. Today we cross our highest pass, the Rinchen Zoe La (5326m) before crossing a plateau reminiscent of the Tibetan Plateau and descending to our camp set beside the river in a forest clearing. It will take us several hours to gain the pass, and in the final approach the views are unmatched. Vast glaciers run down from a series of snowy mountains into two major glacial blue lakes that have a scattering of small ‘icebergs’ across them. At the gap we take time to take photos and appreciate our achievement, then continue on to our camp. The hike to the camp involves a steep descent beside a moraine and some rock-hopping next to the river where we find our camp. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4950 M. We will walk about 6 hours and cross the distance of 18 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 25Trek to Thampe Tso (4200 Meters) about 6 hours. Overnight at Camp.After crossing the river we follow the main valley, entering the forest and warmer temperatures. The scenery is pretty, both immediately around us and to the snowy peaks in the distance down valley. The trail weaves in and out of boulders in and at the side of the river, and then enters thick tall forest of pines, rhododendron, birch and maple. A solid day of trekking brings us to a camp just beneath our last pass. We are rewarded with a beautiful setting for our last mountain camp. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 4200 M. We will walk about 6 hours and cross the distance of 18 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 26Cross Thampe La Pass and trek to Maurothang (3550 Meters) about 5 hours. Overnight at Camp.It takes us under an hour to reach the Tempe La (4665m), our last pass of the trek. From here the trek is all downhill to camp. Initially it is quite steep, winding down and past the large turquoise lake of Om Tsho, and then traversing back and forth across cliffs to the valley floor. From now on to Marothang we follow the Nikka Chhu river through rhododendron and pine forest, and yak pastures along fairly level terrain. At Marothang we encounter the first shop since Laya, a lovely little wooden house beside the river. Our camp is situated at the altitude of 3550 M. We will walk about 5 hours and cross the distance of 14 KM today. Overnight at Tented Camp.

Day 27Trek to Nikachu Chazam and drive to Punakha. about 5 hours. Overnight at Hotel.A long final day of trekking will descend through the lovely village of Sephu to finish at Nikachu Chazam. We continue to drive Punakha. We will cross the distance of 23 KM today. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 28Drive to Paro via Thimpu. Overnight at Hotel.After breakfast, drive to Paro via Thimphu. Lunch at Thimphu. Afternoon, free for shopping. In the evening, drive to Paro. Overnight at Hotel. You can also extend your trip for sightseeing in Thimphu and spend a night here.

Day 29Departure at Paro International Airport. We will transfer to Paro International Airport for you onward destination. We will transfer to Paro International Airport for you onward destination.
