Langtang Trekking

Langtang Valley

Langtang region lies about 130 km north of Kathmandu valley with close border to Tibet.  The region is easily accessible from Kathmandu valley that covers the area of 1710 sq. km with a good mix of traditional villages and mountain views.  Langtang region is worth visiting  to explore the lifestyle and culture of the Tamangs and Sherpa, whose craftsmanship, language, dress and houses bear their uniqueness and much more similar to those of Tibet. The Langtang region is popular because of close destination from Kathmandu, less footprints on the trails, wide range of scenery, good food and accommodation. Some of the towering Himalayas of Langtang region are  Langtang Lirung (7246m), Gang Chhenpo (6388m), Naya Kanga Ri (5846m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m) and Yala Peak (5800m). The another attraction of the region is popular Langtang glacier  and more than 70 of varying sizes high altitude lakes including  Holy Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda are  the another attraction of Langtang trekking.

The first Himalayan national park of Nepal- Langtang National Park is a homeland for different animals and birds  like wild dogs, red panda, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan Thar, Ghoral, rhesus monkey, common langur, snow leopard, pika,  tragopan, pheasants and many other species of birds. The climate of the park is dominated by the southwest summer monsoon. The extreme differences of altitude results in varies of temperature in Langtang Region. Mostly the  rain occurs from June to August and from September  to November and from April to May, days are warm and sunny, and nights cooler. The days are clear and mind and nights are near freezing in winter. The Langtang trekking region  consists the major popular destinations like Langtang valley, Lama Hotel, Gosaikunda, Kyangin Gompa, Langtang Village, Singa Gompa, Tharepati, Ghodetabala and  Tserko Ri. There is a series of north- south running valleys that provide a variety of possible trekking routes to explore the above mentioned  places. The whole valley is dominated by Mount Langtang Lirung (7,245 m), the highest peak in the area, and smaller peaks such as Chimse Danda, Ganja La pass, Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa. The welcoming Sherpas who live here call themselves Hyalmo after the name of their sacred valley, Helambu.  The  green and pleasant land of quiet villages, terraced slopes and pine forests is extended  up to Langtang National Park.  

Langtang trekking begins from three different places Syabrubensi, Dunche & Sundari Jal. Trekking in Langtang region in not only popular among the novice hikers but also for challenging trekkers and adventurous lovers. For more adventure trip to Langtang  can be the trip to climbing of Tsergu RI and Yala peak and crossing Ganja La pass.
